The Loh Down

Chronicling a two-month reporting stint in the land of beer, brats and BMWs and other parts of Germany

Off to Germany (almost); Burns Day 1

On Sunday, I’ll be flying to Munich, Germany, for a two-month reporting stint (courtesy of the Arthur Burns Fellowship). I’ll be stationed at the Sueddeutsche Zeitung and freelancing for a couple American publications. This raises several important questions:

1) Do I remember how to speak German…oder?

2) Will I fit into my clothes — or a single airplane seat — after 60 days of brats, beer and schnitzel?

3) Will I stumble across a story as big as either of these (courtesy of DC’s Newseum, which I visited yesterday):

Right now I’m in Washington DC, and our orientation starts tonight with a welcoming at the Dacor Bacon House.

I’ll try to blog daily about the trip — complete with pictures, videos, misadventures, etc.

Stay tuned, and I hope to hear from everyone
